London Bridge is Falling Down

Have y’all noticed that there are many people that actually trust & welcome our government right now? Even after all the exposure, they still want and believe they need this governmental system. Do you know there’s a scripture in the Bible that talks about people that actually “wanted” to depend on a government system instead of living in the freedoms God had provided for them and God said I will give the people what they want, but it won’t be a good thing. God did not create us to be controlled, He created us to be free within the boundaries of His provision and protection.

When Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons as Israel’s leaders. The name of his firstborn was Joel and the name of his second was Abijah, and they served at Beersheba. But his sons did not follow his ways. They turned aside after dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice. So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.” But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will claim as his rights.” Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who were asking him for a king. He said, “This is what the king who will reign over you will claim as his rights: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. Your male and female servants and the best of your cattle and donkeys he will take for his own use. He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.” But the people refused to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We want a king over us. Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.” When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the Lord. The Lord answered, “Listen to them and give them a king.” Then Samuel said to the Israelites, “Everyone go back to your own town (1 Samuel 8:1-22 NIV).”

I believe the reason so many people trust the government is because they have been there for them in times of need. Never realizing they’re putting harnesses around their necks as they do. Why do I believe this? I believe it, because I’ve seen it over and over and over again. Many single mothers raise children off of government funding, many widows supplement their incomes off government funding. I’ve even seen churches point them to go to the government for help and assistance. But that’s not what Gods word says for the body of Christ to do, the Bible says that the church is supposed to help these people themselves. It does not tell them to point them to the government. Instead the church has taken on the image of this world and how it does "business", instead of being holy and set apart. The church has become about their big buildings, growing numbers, and becoming superstars. Instead of serving and meeting the needs of the people.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world (James 1:27).

I once knew someone that God was wooing and that person was in desperate need of help and I told them to go to the church for help and they did, but there was no help to be given to them. So they went to the government for help and they helped them. Saying to themselves, "Why do I need the church when I have the government?" And on they went diving back into the world, brushing off and dismissing the wooing of the Lord. I immediately got upset with the church, because I literally watched as the Lord was wooing someone and the lack of the churches effort to be the church God created them to be was too much to bare. Losing the opportunity to help facilitate the capture of her heart towards Christ.

I have wept over that moment many times.

This is why people do not believe the churches and look to the government because although their help does not come free and it does not come without penalty, it is still help in the darkness of their days. It is still help when there’s no help to be found. The government becomes the savior of the people, instead of the church meeting them in their darkest hour of need and pointing them to the Savior of all humanity. They do not believe the church any more, and they do not need the church anymore. And the systems of this world is banking on this weakness and they’re counting on it so that they can wrap a harness around their neck making them slaves to their system.

All while the church set back and let it happen.

God never designed for government to be what He called the church to be. If people trusted the churches they would be running to the churches instead of looking for the government to be the answer to their needs. This is the hour for churches to rise to the needs of their communities and cities and be the church God created them to be.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:1-2).

This is not what God created this nation to be, it's not why the pilgrims came here. He wanted this nation to be a light to the rest of the world. A city on a hill and we've fallen for the distractions of worldly things, but I believe its not too late. We may have fallen into the traps of greed that the enemy has set for us, but with Gods help we can repair the damage before it all comes crashing down around us.

Prayer

Father help us be the church you created us to be. Help us to rise to the occasion. Forgive us for being about the big buildings and the fame, help us to be all about you and all about serving your people to the fullest measure. Help us to lay aside anything that hinders and binds and not get tripped up by the things of this world that try to ensnare us in satans webs of deceptions' so that we do not become all that you created us to be. We love you, we need you. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Have you been saved?

If you are someone who has not been saved. I would like to ask you, do you believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead? If you believe that then declare openly with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. If you do these things, then you are, in fact, saved, and I would like to welcome you to the body of Christ.

If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9).

Have you been Holy Spirit Filled?

If you would like to receive power in your walk with God, welcome the Holy Spirit into your life today.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
