It’s a tale as old as time and a song as old as rhyme that only fools rush in. We’ve read about so many stories where Kings and mighty men of God lost their throne, position, and/or purpose due to being lured away by a woman with a seductive spirit. Sin is always sweet at the beginning, if feeding our flesh is what we are geared to do, but it will cost us every time. Being lured away by someone that was not intended for us, is not always as easy to see coming as one would think. Sometimes when this kind of woman/man comes, you are not dating or married to anyone. You're single, but she/he comes to get you off the path that God intended for you. She/he comes to rob you of purpose and position.
“For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil; but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it (Proverbs 5:3-6 NIV)." ( This is not just in the form of a woman, men can come in this same spirit too).
We live in a world that tells us to try everybody out and figure out if they are what we want. Well, if that was the way, what happens when people change, look differently, and are not the person you originally chose? Then what do we do, divorce? Be miserable? That's a pretty weak and lazy perspective on how to find the one that you are to spend the rest of your life with don't ya think? The world is always changing its methods, its ways, because eventually they find out the way they’re doing something doesn't work. But, God never changes and He never changes His ways and they prove true every time.
I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. Psalms 138:2 ESV
Love is not something that just happens, but takes time, its a process and a journey all its own. Love earned can be lost. But, true love comes from God and learning what love truly is through His word and a coming out from all the things we were born into that has destroyed or chipped away at our perspectives.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4-6 NIV
Love takes time.
Prayer:
Father, thank you for your word and that it helps navigate our life, if we would only look to it. Father, thank you for wanting to protect us and give us a way to live so that satan cannot continue to wreck havoc. Thank you for the purpose and plans that you have for us, help us to trust them and not lean on our own limited perspectives in understanding things. Father, true love is beautiful and to learn the depth of what love truly is, is a beautiful journey that I pray we all get to experience in our lifetime. Help us to surrender to your way, so that we wont miss out and so we won't waste time. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
