Defense U

As children of God, we have the right to live in peace, that is God's gift to us (John 16:33). But, it is the enemy's mission to mess with anything God is trying to do in our life (Matt 13:25). God wants us to know that despite satans attempts to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10), we do not need to fear the enemy. As believers, we all have authority over the enemy through Jesus's finished work on the Cross (Matthew 18:18). Sometimes we are just not aware or awake to what's really going on because we have been strategically distracted or lulled to sleep. We've grown comfortable, complacent, and/or we do not take things as seriously as they are when it comes to the spiritual battle we are in (Matt 25:5).

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come (John 16:13 NIV).

But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away (Matthew 13;25).

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10 NIV).

“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven (Matthew 18:18 NIV).

The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep (Matthew 25:5 NIV).

The Bible tells us to be aware of satans devices so that we will know how he works so that we can defeat him and shut him down (2 Cor 2:11). He seeks to and fro trying to gain an entry point into our lives so that he can rob us of all the things God has for us and so that he can rob us of our joy. (1 Peter 5:8) He gains entry into our lives through doorways that we have left wide open by not living a disciplined life and a life fully surrendered to God's will/way (1 Cor 6:19). He also gains access by what we give our attention to, through what we entertain, and through all the things of this world that have captured our heart (Matt 6:22-23 & Prov 4:23). He gains access through our thinking, we have to make up our minds to serve God, believe God. Not be settled to believe God a little and the world's ways a little (Rom 12:2). We find Him, only when we are all in (Jeremiah 29:13).

in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes (2 Corinthians 2:11 NIV).

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8 NIV).

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own (1 Corinthians 6:19).

“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness (Matthew 6:22-23).

Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23 NIV).

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:2 NIV).

We need to remember the example Jesus set before us. When He was in the wilderness, and satan tried to gain access into Jesus's life, Jesus stopped him dead in his tracks. Jesus stopped him from gaining access by not receiving his lies. He stopped him by knowing the word of God. Everywhere satan tried to gain access, Jesus stopped him with the word. Jesus was the word, we have to become the word too, not just applying or using the word from a frontal perspective. We have to be changed by the word from within ourselves. We have to walk, live, and breath it (Jer 31:33). This is a work God does in and through us (Phil 1:6). If we have an evil spirit influencing our thinking it does not mean we are bad people, that we are not Christians. In 2 Corinthians 2:11, Paul acknowledges this to us. Paul was talking to Christians, "lest satan should take advantage of us."

Many people say Christians cannot be influenced by demons, this is not true. If you look in Mark 5:1-20 that demon-possessed man knew who Jesus was, he saw him walking up, and he ran to meet Him and fell down at His feet.

This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people (Jeremiah 31:33 NIV).

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6 NIV).

They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes. When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an impure spirit came from the tombs to meet him. This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain. For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones. When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!” (Mark 5:1-8 NIV)."

We take authority over satan by knowing who we are in Christ. To expel satan and his principalities from our thinking, from our behaviors, and from the things that have our heart, we must know the word (Matthew 12:43-45). Jesus has to have our whole heart (Jeremiah 29:13-14), satan can't have any of it, this world cannot have any of it (1 Corinthians 10:21-22). We need to renew our thinking by reading the word of God. This can be a process, we didn't start thinking the way we do overnight, and we won't always stop thinking the way we do overnight. Some of the lies and things we believe in were planted through a wound, so some deliverance's from what satan has done takes healing. So do not fret the process to get us to receive the word (Mark 4:13-20).

You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him (Matthew 12:34-35 NIV)

You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile (Jeremiah 29:13-14).”

You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons. Are we trying to arouse the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he (1 Corinthians 10:21-22)?

Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable? The farmer sows the word. Some people are like seed along the path, where the word is sown. As soon as they hear it, Satan comes and takes away the word that was sown in them. Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; but the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word, making it unfruitful. Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown (Mark 4:13-20 NIV).

We must be patient with ourselves like God is patient with us (2 Peter 3:9). God is not mad at us either, He fights for us (Exodus 14:14). He understands that we are merely perishing from a lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6), He understands that, and God wants to get that knowledge in us so that the enemy cannot take us out (John 10:10). It's why Jesus came to die on the cross ((John 3:16). He came so that we could live the life here on earth God always intended us to (John 10:10). When we get that word in us, we have to guard it (Proverbs 4:2) and not let anything in that is not the truth ever again (2 Corinthians 10:5). We must resist the enemy's lies and only believe God, and when we do that the enemy has no choice but to flee (John 8:44 & James 4:7). Remember, God is for us (Romans 8:31), and if He is for us, then the enemy is no match for us. We will overcome his lies in Jesus's mighty name.

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9 NIV).

The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still (Exodus 14:14 NIV)."

my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (John 10:10).

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).

You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44).

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7).

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31)?

Prayer

Father, thank you for sending Jesus to rescue us. Thank you so much for leaving the comfort of heaven and

immersing yourself into our world and struggles, to defeat the works of the enemy with your own shed blood. Deliver us from the hand of the enemy. So that we can be free to see and serve you clearly, expose all his lies and help us to become your word so that he cannot come in and wreak havoc into our lives again. In Jesus name I pray, Amen!

Have you been saved?

If you are someone who has not been saved. I would like to ask you, do you believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead? If you believe that then declare openly with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. If you do these things, then you are, in fact, saved, and I would like to welcome you to the body of Christ.

If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9).

Have you been Holy Spirit Filled?

If you would like to receive power in your walk with God, welcome the Holy Spirit into your life today.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
